About Me

My name is Matt Refghi, and I’m a freelance web developer and technical writer. I work primarily with PHP and Javascript, but have experience with VB6, VB .NET, ASP and C#. I’m usually working on more than one project at a time – you can read about my work on my website.

When I’m not coding, I like to write…hence the existance of this blog. Outside the computer world, I like to do some rock climbing, hiking, and biking. I’m also a big fan of paintball. Oh… and I read, too – some of my favourite authors are Chuck Palahniuk, Robert Ludlum, and Clive Barker.

          • These posts are about my life, and they have one very important requirement. They have to be funny, or at least – amusing. If an article isn’t at least amusing, I won’t post it. I also will never post mundane details about what do in a given day. I think you all deserve having something more rewarding to read.
        • Humor
        • Announcements
I also have a Solutions section on my blog, where I write about problems I encountered, and how I fixed them. I do this to help other people that are likely getting in the same situation. I’m particularly concerned about the quality of such posts, as they need to be especially clear. Given how specific these problems are, I felt the posts didn’t belong with the main blog, and as such, they will not appear in the RSS feed.
Copyright Messages

I’m very careful about respecting copyright laws- I will usually only use an image on this site if I:

  • purchased the image, and have the rights to use it publicly.
  • took the screenshot.
  • have the right to use the image according to the image license.

In some cases, you’ll notice copyright watermarks on the images I include in my posts. I do this to make it harder for people to steal the images I’ve taken. In some cases, you’ll see this watermark in screenshots that depict the work of others – for example, an image might depict a website, or an application. My copyright message is strictly about the image I produced when I took the screenshot, in these cases – the content of the depicted sites, unless stated otherwise, is not mine, and so the rights belong to their respective authors.

If you are the owner of a particular image, and you feel I am using it improperly, please notify me as soon as possible. I will take the image down.

Advertising

To help offset the price of my web hosting, my blog features ads. Regardless of which ads appear, rest assured: I will go to great lengths to ensure they are respectfully placed, and not too intrusive. If you feel a particular advertised product is inappropriate, please let me know. It is important to me that the products featured are respectable and relevant.

If you’d like to advertise on this blog, send me an e-mail at mref@gmail.com, and we’ll discuss the possibilities.
